Daiquiri takes its name from the homonymous city in the eastern province of Cuba. The recipe was created by an Italian mining engineer, Giacomo Pagliuchi, and his American colleague, Jennings Cox, in the late 19th century. Besides this story there are a lot of others about the origin of this drink. Daiquiri is also known as one of Ernest Hemingway’s favourite cocktails, who also suggested to a Cuban barman, Costantino Ribalaigua Vert, to create a variation of the original recipe for him.
