Americano was first served in 1860 at the Campari Café in Milan. This cocktail was originally called “Milano - Torino” due to the origins of its ingredients (Campari/Milan and Vermouth/Turin), and it was later renamed due to the popularity gained among American tourists during prohibition time. Americano besides being considered the “father” of Negroni, it was also celebrated by the agent 007, James Bond, who ordered just this drink in the movie “Casino Royale”.
